Week One of the 2013 Book a Week Challenge

This is the first year I've had time to even think about joining the challenge, but I've lurked for years.  I've just started A History of Iran: Empire of the Mind to go with a new TC course, and will pick up one of the Anne of Green Gables sequels because I promised the daughters of a friend that I'd read more of them before our next visit.  They are the favorite books ever for both, and I want to be able to discuss them.
